Taken from two photos with high resolution, so there shouldn't be any blurring. The photo on the left was originally very high resolution (about three times bigger), so I would seriously recommend asking for a custom theme if you have a different screen resolution.
I personally really like this theme, and I spent a lot of time with the colouring (particularly in the text) to make it functional as well as aesthetically pleasing.
In fact, it is one of only two themes I ever use (the other one is here: www.themebeta.com/node/79503 ), and I have made a lot of themes that I don't personally use as much (incidentally, check out my page for a whole load more Emma Watson themes, and some other great stuff)
