The Ukrainian Carpathians are a section of the Eastern Carpathians, within the borders of modern Ukraine. They are in the southwestern corner of Western Ukraine, covering the northeastern part of Zakarpattia, the southwest part of Lviv, the southern half of Ivano-Frankivsk and the western half of Chernivtsi. They are starting at the tripartite border point of Ukraine with Poland and Slovakia and continuing towards the Ukrainian border with Romania. The Chornohora is the highest range in the Carpathians which is home to the peak of Mount Hoverla at 6,761 feet (2,061 m), also the five more summits Brebeneskul, Pip Ivan Chornohirskyi, Petros, Hutyn Tomnatyk, and Rebra, hitting 6,560 feet (2,000 m).
The Ukrainian Carpathians are a place of amazing natural beauty, covered with dense forests and legends in which mountain spirits express themselves. Mount Hoverla is like two giants turned into stone statues, which can see on the mountain. The Three Stones is about three sisters who cursed and turned into stones, and the people believe that if you touch these stones, you will be lucky. The Cheremosh River was named after a beautiful girl who was turned into a river by her jealous lover.
