The Kremlin is a fortified complex in Moscow, Russia, named as Moscow Kremlin. Located in the centre of the country's capital city, it is the best-known of the Russian Citadels. The Kremlin includes five palaces, four cathedrals, and the enclosing Kremlin Wall along with the Kremlin towers. Within the complex is the Grand Kremlin Palace, which served as the royal residence of the Emperor of Russia. It is now the official residence of the President of the Russian Federation. The Kremlin overlooks the Moskva River to the South, Saint Basil's Cathedral, and the Red Square to the East, and Alexander Garden to the West. The most precious objects on the territory of the Kremlin are the Assumption Cathedral, the Diamond Fund and the Armoury Chamber. The Assumption Cathedral is dedicated to the Feast of the Dormition and Ever-Virgin Mary, it was built as the principal church of the Russian state. The cathedral is encircled by outstanding specimens of Old Russian architecture like the Cathedrals and Churches, the Ivan the Great Bell-Tower, the Facets Palace and the Patriarch’s Palace. The Armoury Chamber contains ancient state regalia, clothes that were worn only during coronations, royal and imperial outfits, as well as real carriages in which noble persons once sat as well as a unique collection of gold and silver items. The Diamond Chamber has various sparkling precious stones and a huge collection of luxurious jewellery of ancient and modern masters.
